Roommates Kirollos Deryas and Ramy Farah were charged with domestic assault and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after beating another roommate and attacking him with a knife.
On 12/21/19 officers responded to a domestic disturbance on Glastonbury Road. When they arrived at the residence, officers obtained statements from all parties involved. The victim, Assad Makar, stated that he arrived home and got into a verbal altercation with Ramy Farah and Kirollos Deryas. Assad claims that the argument was over money that had been taken from him several weeks ago. Asad alleged that Ramy escalated the situation by pushing him. Assad stated that he pushed Ramy back and Ramy started punching him. Assads says during that time Kirollos joined in by punching Assad as well. Assad then said that Ramy grabbed a pocket knife and attempted to cut him but that he was able to make his way to the bathroom.
Gerges, the fourth roommate, witnessed the altercation and corroborated Assad’s story. Officers observed that Assad sustained several abrasions and swelling to his face and head, as well as minor lacerations consistent with being cut with a knife. Due to the unbiased witness statement coupled with the victim’s injuries being consistent with his story, Ramy and Kirollos were determined to be the predominant aggressors of the incident.
Kirollos Deryas was charged with domestic assault and posted a $2500.00 bond. Ramy Farah was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and posted a $10,000.00 bond.
