Florida man attempts to smuggle 42 pounds of marijuana through Nashville International Airport

20-year-old Treydrais Shine was charged with possession with intent after he was found with 42 pounds of marijuana inside two suitcases while connecting at Nashville International Airport on the way to Tampa, Florida.

On July 9th, Officer De Pinto was collaborating with K9 units and Nashville Airport Detectives at the Nashville International Airport. K9 unit “Havoc” was tasked with sniff searches on three separate suitcases from Los Angeles International Airport. Havoc was able to detect the scent of narcotics on two of the three sets of luggage. According to the affidavit, both suitcases had a tag belonging to Traydrais Shine, a passenger on a Southwest Airlines flight. Both pieces of luggage were placed into an office belonging to the police at BNA. Contact was made with Shine shortly after at the connecting terminal from Nashville to Tampa as the luggage tag indicated. Shine’s identity was verified through a Florida identification card. Following the man’s consent, a search was conducted on the suitcases.

Further investigation revealed nearly 42 pounds of vacuum-sealed marijuana inside the luggage. The narcotics were reportedly concealed through the padding of brand new clothing. The packaging and method of concealment were consistent with intentions of redistribution, per report.

Treydrais Shine was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent. His bond was set at $75,000.
