Man found to have 74g weed, 2.7g MDMA, and 2 firearms while driving with little brother

23-year-old Taishawn Collins was charged with contributing to a minor, paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana, MDMA, and a weapon after he was found to have weapons and narcotics in the vehicle during a traffic stop.

On September 17th, Metro Nashville Police Officer Cooper Hill conducted a traffic stop on Taishawn Collins. When approaching the vehicle, Hill observed a strong odor of marijuana emitting from within. Collins was the driver and his 17-year-old brother was in the passenger seat. When the officer asked if there were any illegal substances in the vehicle, Collins informed them of the marijuana and a firearm in the center console.

Officer Hill searched the vehicle and recovered 74 grams of marijuana, 2.7 grams of methamphetamine in the form of MDMA pills, two digital scales, and a grinder containing marijuana residue. The officer located the firearm in the center console, as well as, a second firearm on the 17-year-old’s person. Both firearms were loaded when recovered by police.

Taishawn Collins was arrested and charged with contributing to the delinquency of minor, unlawful drug paraphernalia, felony possession of marijuana, felony possession of MDMA, and unlawful possession of a weapon. His bond was set at $21,500.
