Teen with active warrant caught with marijuana during traffic stop for speeding

18-year-old Devontez Wade was charged with possession of marijuana, felony possession of a weapon, and domestic assault after he was found to have an active warrant and admitted he had marijuana and a gun during a traffic stop for speeding.

On August 7th, Metro Nashville Police Officer Christopher Alceus spoke with a witness who stated Kelsea Delk got into a physical altercation. The witness claimed Kelsea told her that Devontez Wade scratched her and pushed her. She had noticeable marks on her face and neck. The witness did not want to prosecute so Officer Alceus prosecuted on her behalf.

On December 8th, Metro Nashville Police officers spotted a 2013 black Dodge Charger speeding and driving over the lines and initiated a traffic stop at 3428 Indiana Avenue. Officers made contact with Devontez Wade, who was driving the vehicle. An odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle and officers ran his information, discovering he had an active warrant for domestic assault.

He was asked to exit the vehicle and was taken into custody. When asked if there was anything else in his vehicle or on his person, Devontez stated he had a handgun under his seat in his car and some marijuana. Officers located the handgun and approximately 33 grams of marijuana, empty baggies, and a digital scale.

Devontez Wade was arrested and charged with domestic assault, felony possession of a weapon with intent, and possession of marijuana. He was later released on a $36,000 bond.
