33-year-old Muhamed Albarati is charged in the shooting of a man at Paul’s market, where he works. Albarati says he only “shot at the ground in his direction”, however, the victim suffered gunshot wounds in both of his legs. A handgun was collected from the scene, and security footage confirmed Albarati was the shooter. This is but the latest in a long series of problems at the Jefferson Street market – including the open sales of guns and narcotics, and the owner publishing video of himself brutally beating a man with a baseball bat.
Metro Nashville Police responded to General Hospital on April 7th, after Kenneth Blaylock presented to the hospital with gunshot wounds to both legs. He told police the clerk at Paul’s Market, Mohamad Albarati, was the person who shot him. Police made contact with Albarati, who confirmed the gun he used, but says he only shot at the ground in the direction of the man.
Mohamad Albarati was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail, charged with felony aggravated assault with serious bodily injury, and posted a $5,000 cash bond less than three hours after his arrest. He was released to his home address at 103 Hunters Trail in Hendersonville.

BELOW IS OUR PREVIOUS REPORTING ON PAUL’S MARKET:
Employees of Paul’s market, including manager Ayed ‘Oskar’ Khawaf, have been arrested twice in two weeks for separate incidents to include imprisoning and assaulting a man inside the store and assaulting a lady with a golf club. We have NEW VIDEO of a baseball bat assault by Oskar and evidence of gun & drug sales at the market.
The new video, which was sent to Scoop: Nashville by Oskar himself in late June, is now being released. We held off on releasing the video, in case there was a matching police report to accompany it. A segment of the video is below, which includes Ayed ‘Oskar’ Khawaf smiling while holding the baseball bat seconds before he brutally bases a man with it.
‘Oskar’, who manages the store, also offers drugs and guns for sale, frequently spreading the word about what’s currently in stock on his public, unprotected Instagram story, offering pickup for the items up at the store.
Ayed ‘Oskar’ Khawaf, 28, and employee Abdulrahman Al Ammari, 23 have been arrested twice the past two weeks, for different incidents. On 07/19/2019 a customer says he went to Paul’s Market with a friend to purchase items when the friend and the two employees go into an altercation and they were told to leave the store. The man later returned, and an arrest warrant states the two employees locked the man inside the store and assaulted him. They were booked on August 1st for false imprisonment and assault charges.
The day before, on 07/18/2019, Metro Police responded to reports of a shooting at the market and found that security footage showed ‘Oskar’ beat a female in the face with a golf club, so she shot at him. His coworker then came outside and shot at her.
We have video footage of another shooting at Paul’s Market from March of this year, also sent to us by Oskar.
Oskar sent Scoop Nashville the video of him assaulting the man with the baseball bat, along with dozens of others. We are not aware of any charges being filed in that case. Paul’s Market is located at 1800 Jefferson St.
