Metro Police came into contact with 23-year-old Michael Selby as they were working the downtown district this weekend and noticed Selby and others assisting a very intoxicated individual down the stairs. It turned out Selby was also intoxicated, and have a loaded handgun in a pouch on his waistband. Police took him into custody, charging him with possession of a firearm while drinking inside a bar. He is free on pre-trial release.

| Officers working the Entertainment District Initiative were outside of 301 Broadway when they noticed the defendant and several others assisting a very intoxicated companion down the stairs. They observed that person with a holstered pistol on his waistband. He said something that made Officer Hees suspect that the defendant was also armed. He asked the defendant if he had been drinking and he admitted that he had. He then asked him if he was armed and the Defendant said that he was. The defendant had a loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol in a pouch on his waistband. Due to his level of intoxication, he was taken into custody. |
