54-year-old Brian Martin Cartee had a car accident near the Assembly Food Hall Parking Garage on 6th Avenue South late April 7th. When the police arrived, they spoke with Preston Craig Todd, an APS security employee. Todd stated that the other driver who was involved flagged him down, saying that Kia had hit her vehicle and fled. Todd said that he observed a Kia on the ramp, where he located Cartee, who showed multiple signs of intoxication. Todd added that Cartee was slow to park his car. Then, officers approached Cartee and noticed he reeked of alcohol and could not stand independently. Officers asked him if he had consumed any alcohol, to which he said he had “2 to 3” drinks. Cartee refused to take sobriety tests or provide a chemical sample after being informed of implied consent. Officers obtained surveillance showing Cartee driving the Kia during the incident and then detained him. On the way to booking, Cartee stated he had just moved to Nashville and that it was his first day here. Then, he said he “hates Nashville and the police,” adding that this is “bullshit” and “wrong” repeatedly. Cartee was taken into custody for driving under the influence and implied consent.
Brian Martin Cartee of Allium Place in Orlando Beach, Florida, was booked into Metro Nashville Jail on April 7th, charged with driving under the influence and implied consent. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $2,500, and the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office gave him pre-trial release from their facility.
