The driver of a stolen 2011 Infiniti sedan and his front seat passenger, identified as Sean Holmes, both died overnight when the car went out of control in a curve on Donelson Pike near Lakeland Drive, ran off the roadway and collided with a tree in a front yard. The driver remains unidentified.

Metro Police say there were two persons in the backseat of the car.  One ran away immediately after the crash.  The second was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The deceased driver of the car has not been identified.  The deceased passenger is identified as Sean L. Holmes Jr., 19, of Baptist World Center Drive.  The backseat passenger transported to Vanderbilt is identified as Vonquae Johnson, 19, of Berry Street.

In regard to the backseat passenger who ran away, officers tracked blood from the scene to Wellman Drive.  It is believed that individual called someone to pick him up.  Three guns were recovered from the Infiniti, which was stolen in the early morning hours of August 7 from an apartment complex on Watts Circle in West Nashville.

The contributing factors to the 2:20 a.m. crash are excessive speed and failure to maintain lane. Police say this entire case remains under investigation.
