Police stop woman from sabotaging mother’s gas tank with gravel

25-year-old Dominique Chapman was charged with two counts of domestic vandalism after officers witnessed her trying to put rocks in her mother’s gas tank.

On September 21st, Metro Nashville Police Officer Jordan Vrbas was dispatched to 1607 12th Avenue North on a domestic disturbance. Officers came in contact with Cheryl Highsmith who told them after a verbal altercation, her daughter, Dominique Chapman became upset. Highsmith said that Chapman picked her phone up from a table and threw it outside into gravel, destroying it.

While Officer Vrbas was verifying the involved parties’ information he witnessed Chapman pick up gravel from the driveway and attempt to put it in the gas tank of her mother’s vehicle. Officers had to stop her and she was taken into custody for domestic vandalism. Damage to the vehicle was more than $1,000 and less than $2,500.

Dominique Chapman was arrested and charged with two counts of vandalism $1,000 or less and vandalism over $1,000. She was found guilty of one count and the other was dismissed.
