Man charged with attempted theft after manager says he tried to steal 4 rental cars

38-year-old Tyson Gilbert was charged with 4 counts of attempted theft and resisting arrest after a car rental manager said he had tried to gain access to 4 different vehicles before trying to flee from the Nashville Airport Police.

On November 25th, Metro Nashville Airport Police Officers Redifer and Copeland responded to the consolidated rental car facility located at 10 Terminal Drive in reference to a man attempting to break into vehicles. When officers arrived, Tyson Gilbert noticed them and began to turn away.

Once the officers demand he stop, Gilbert attempted to flee the scene on foot. According to the affidavit, Gilbert stopped and obeyed commands after a short pursuit. Officers spoke with Shawn Nixon, the manager at EAN Holding Rental Company. He told them Gilbert attempted to drive out of the garage in a 2020 Audi Q3, a 2020 Audi A5, a 2019 Chevy Malibu, and a 2020 Nissan Rogue.

Tyson Gilbert was arrested and charged with three counts of attempted theft of property, attempted theft of services, and resisting arrest. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $61,000 bond.
