20-year-old Richard Pearson and his girlfriend, 19-year-old Janique Alicia Simpson, had a domestic altercation with her brother, Jaheim Simpson, at Bell Road on December 18th. They advised officers that Jaheim and Janique always bicker, and today, she threw a key at him and missed, prompting him to throw a water bottle at her. She then called for Pearson, and he ran into the kitchen. Jaheim ran behind him while holding a knife in his left hand, causing Pearson to grab him to prevent himself from being stabbed. Jaheim then grabbed a glass cup that ended up shattering, creating shards that he ended up grabbing to try to stab Richard with. Janique and Richard tried to grab the shard away from Jaheim and cut their hands.

Officers spoke with Jaheim, who stated he was cooking when his sister began bickering with him. She opened the refrigerator, hitting him, causing him to bump the door back at her. She left the kitchen, returned with a water bottle, and threw it at him, so he grabbed it and threw it back. She then charged at him to attack, so he grabbed ahold of her in self-defense. Then, her boyfriend, Pearson, ran into the kitchen and grabbed him from behind, pinning him against the counter and ripping two of his dreads out. Then, Richard grabbed a glass cup and tried to hit him in the face with it, and it ended up shattering, turning into shards that Richard tried to stab him with. Jaheim attempted to hold the shard to prevent it from stabbing him, but it cut his hand. He stated Richard threw him to the floor and ended up cutting his left ankle and chin. Officers observed the lacerations Jaheim sustained, lining up with his statements, and deemed Richard and Janique as the primary aggressors. They were taken into custody for aggravated assault.
