21-year-old Elizabeth Noel Bowers was driving with her cellphone in her left hand while looking at her GPS near Wedgewood Avenue in the spring of 2023. Officers observed this, conducted a traffic stop, and cited her for the incident. Bowers was booked on the citation for driving with a cell device on April 14th, 2024.
45-year-old Christopher Mercado was jailed Thursday night after assaulting his ex-girlfriend at their home on Kirkwall Drive. Heather Brown told officers that she and Mercado live in the same house but are separated and have separate bedrooms. She explained that he came home drunk and became aggressive. He entered her room and followed her into the bathroom while arguing with her. Mercado then began throwing her belongings against the wall and bathroom floor. Heather was cornered and believed that he would hurt her. Mercado then walked up to Heather, said, “Get the fuck out my way,” grabbed her by the wrist, and pushed her against the wall in the bathroom. When Heather told Mercado that she was calling the police, he became upset and responded, “You bitch, I can’t believe you’d do that,” and drove away drunk from the scene.
33-year-old Craig McCowan was jailed on June 2nd after reportedly strangling his Ex-Girlfriend, Mary McPherson, against a wall at their home on Church Street. Mccowan told police he was trying to grab her backpack, not her neck.
