Sean Rivas spends over $40,000 after stealing Vanderbilt Medical Center business credit card

21-year-old Sean Rivas was caught using fraudulent credit card information and making purchases totaling over $40,000. On February 21st, Vanderbilt employee Jerica Reeder reported that someone using her credit card information charged a total of $46,050.00 between February 9th and February 23rd. Reeder stated her business card was issued to her by Vanderbilt Medical Center and was stored in her drawer at work. All fraudulent transactions were done using a “Block” reader device that is normally attached to a cellphone. Officers obtained the user of the credit card via a subpoena sent to Block inc. during their investigation. The information returned one account belonging to Sean Rivas, including Rivas’ telephone number, bank account, TN driver’s license, and a live video/photo of the user. Rivas was an employee of the Vanderbilt cleaning staff and had access to Reeder’s office. Officers determined Rivas to have used Reeder’s card, and he was taken into custody for two counts of credit card fraud on April 22nd.

Schander Hassan booked after assaulting Vanderbilt Medical employee with used urinal

41-year-old Schander Hassan was booked on the citation of assault on April 16th. On March 24th, around 12:30 a.m. at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Michelle Hicks, an employee, approached officers and advised them that Hassan had struck her in the head with a used urinal bin. Hassan was cited for the incident.

David Herrera-Andino shoots man in face during altercation, leaves him in critical condition

21-year-old David Herrera-Andino was taken into custody on April 11th for an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon that had occurred at a Preserve Circle residence on March 24th. Andino had shot and hit Brillian Amilcar Mercado-Nunez in the face. Andino then fled the scene by having Karla Dayanne Hernandez-Reyes pick him up. Officers on the scene rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived and transported Nunez to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where he was in critical condition. Detectives identified Andino as the shooter via several individuals who were inside the residence during the shooting, and he has since admitted to firing the handgun and shooting Nunez in the face.

18-year-old Karla Hernandez-Reyes jailed after being getaway driver for shooter

18-year-old Karla Dayana Hernandez-Reyes was taken into custody for the facilitation of aggravated assault on April 11th. On March 24th, around 6:33 a.m., the police received a call regarding a shooting at a Preserve Circle residence. When officers arrived, they located Brillian Amilcar Mercado-Nunez with a gunshot wound to his face, so they rendered aid until medics showed up to transport him to Vanderbilt Medical Center. Detectives were advised of the incident and investigated, during which they observed a large amount of blood on the couch and living room floor. They spoke with multiple people who were inside during the shooting and identified Hernandez-Reyes as the individual who drove the shooter to and from the scene, helping him escape.

Man causes accident sending one to emergency department; license was revoked in 2012 for DUI

28-year-old James Walter was charged with vehicular assault and driving on a revoked license after causing a crash on Old Hickory Blvd which sent a person to the Vanderbilt Emergency Department. Later admits he consumed beers and weed.
