19-year-old Justin Spence was arrested on Thursday evening at the Nashville International Airport, after authorities say he made a joke about a bomb threat.

Police were dispatched to gate C-5 at 5:30 PM for a report of an individual making a bomb threat. Upon arrival, they made contact with Justin Spence, from Houma, LA. According to an affidavit, Mr. Spence stated that in response to his flight being delayed, he made what he considered a joking comment, saying “What if there is a bomb threat?” – as if to state this would cause flights to resume their scheduled departures from the airport.

Justin Spence was detained, and after gate agents corroborated the event and remark, he was arrested for disorderly conduct. A night court commissioner released him on his own recognizance, and he will appear in court on 06/28/18.
