Taylor A. Chandler, 28, was taken into custody Thursday afternoon, on an outstanding warrant charging him with assault of a health care provider. Surveillance video captured him punching a nurse while attempting to help a patient escape a psychiatric evaluation hold at St. Thomas West hospital. His partner is still at large.

Metro Police say on February 6th at 7:00 p.m., a nurse at St. Thomas West noticed two men pushing a patient she was caring for in a wheelchair quickly toward the elevators. The nurse states tells police the patient was not allowed to leave the hospital, due to the patient being on an involuntary committal for a psychiatric evaluation.

Video from the hospital’s security cameras show the two men, now identified as Taylor Chandler, 28, and Dathan Saeger, 43, attempt to enter the elevators as the nurse is blocking the elevator doors. Saeger is seen pushing the nurse, and attempting to move her out-of-the-way of the elevator, then Chandler is seen punching the nurse on the arm and side of the body, causing bruising and swelling to her arm and torso.

WANTED: DATHAN SAEGER (MNPD)

The two suspects were later identified via photo line ups on February 11th, and arrest warrants issued. A warrant for Saeger remains active, while Chandler was arrested on March 7th, charged with assault of a health care provider, and freed on pre-trial release.
