Man uses physical force to keep girlfriend from walking away

21-year-old Timothy Powell was charged with domestic assault with bodily injury and violation of protection order when he used physical force to keep his girlfriend from leaving the bedroom.

On September 15th, Metro Nashville Police Department officers responded to a call at 246 Bonnalynn Drive where they made contact with Nadia Howard. Howard reported she had just woken up when her boyfriend, Timothy Powell, randomly became upset. She told police she tried to leave the bedroom when he started pushing her back to the point of “extreme physical pain.”

A witness, John Reese, stated he heard the commotion escalate over the course of about 10 minutes and when he went to go check on them he witnessed Powell pushing Howard as she tried to leave. The witness told police that he convinced Powell to leave. Powell was not on the scene when officers arrived. Police also noted there was a valid temporary order of protection in place between Powell and Howard.

On October 3rd, Timothy Powell was arrested and charged with domestic assault and violation of protection order. He was released on a $5,000 bond.
