21-year-old Winston Cherry was charged with aggravated assault when he threatened a man in the parking garage at Holiday Inn Express with a knife after the man confronted Cherry and his friends about their use of vulgar language.
On November 7th, Metro Nashville Police officers responded to a person with a weapon at 920 Broadway. When officers arrived they made contact with Thomas Irvin who told them Winston Cherry had pulled a knife on him in the Holiday Inn Express parking garage.
Irvin told officers he overheard Cherry and two other males cursing. Irvin asked them to watch their language and Cherry became upset. He and three other witnesses advised Cherry proceeded to take out a knife and aggressively approach Irvin. Officers observed the incident that was captured on hotel surveillance cameras.
Winston Cherry was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was released on a $2,500 bond.
