Less than a month after his 21st birthday, Alexander Hargis faces a DUI charge after officers stopped him for an issue with his front headlight. Upon approaching the vehicle, empty cans of White Claw and an open bottle of Jim Beam were immediately noticed. Hargis agreed to a breathalyzer and blew a 0.22 BAC. He is free on pre-trial release.

| On 02 November 2021 at approximately 0051 hours, I, Officer Doty, observed a vehicle with a headlight not functioning properly. I conducted a traffic stop and made a passenger-side approach. Upon making contact with the driver, Mr. Alexander Hargis, I detected an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his person and I also detected slurred speech. In the vehicle, I observed several White Claw cans and an open bottle of Jim Beam Whiskey on the passenger side floorboard. I asked Mr. Hargis to step out of the vehicle to which he complied and consented to SFSTs. during HGN, I observed lack of smooth pursuit, distinct and sustained nystagmus, and onset prior to 45 degrees. During the Walk and Turn, Mr. Hargis could not maintain balance during the Instruction Phase and then he refused to complete the remainder of the SFSTs. Mr. Hargis was placed under arrest for DUI (TCA 55-10-401). Mr. Hargis consented to a breathalyzer. His final result was 0.22. |
