29-year-old tourist Jacob Bennett, from Florida, was booked into the Metro Nashville jail just before midnight Thursday after causing a scene at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row on Broadway in downtown Nashville. Officers working the Entertainment District Initiative (EDI) observed him in a verbal altercation with security staff as he attempted to enter an exit door of the venue. He was asked to leave the property and refused and was eventually taken into custody for public intoxication. He was additionally charged with resisting arrest after he pulled his hands and arms away from being cuffed, and it took multiplied MNPD officers to subdue him into custody. Bennett is free on pre-trial release.

| I was working the Entertainment District Initiative on Broadway on 12/9/2021 at about 2214 hours. In this capacity, I observed the defendant engaged in a verbal argument with security staff at Whiskey Row located at 400 Broadway after attempting to enter the business through the exit door. The defendant was in close proximity of security and arguing in an aggressive manner creating a dangerous environment for staff. I attempted to intervene and asked the defendant to leave the bar. I noted that the defendant had a strong odor of alcohol about his person, slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet. After ignoring several commands to leave, the defendant continued to argue with Whiskey Row Staff. I then attempted to place the defendant into custody for public intoxication; however, he began to physically pull his hands and arms away making it difficult to apply cuffs. The defendant continued to ignore verbal commands to stop resisting, and it took multiple officers using soft empty hand control to gain control of the defendant and apply the handcuffs. |
