23-year-old Elijah Hargrove is charged with the domestic assault of his ex-girlfriend, Brittnei Carney, after she made her way into his home and found him with his new girlfriend, under the guise of “looking for a key”. His roommate let the ex-girlfriend into the house to look for the key, and while she was there, along with her little cousin, Hargrove emerged from his bedroom but blocked the door, and the ex-girlfriend soon realized he had another woman in the bedroom of his house. A dramatic argument ensued, resulting in him being accused of pushing his ex-girlfriend, gripping her color, and pulling her to the ground while allegedly holding her down by the neck. The ex-girlfriend went before a magistrate and got a private prosecution warrant for domestic assault. Hargrove was booked on the outstanding warrant on Saturday and is free on a $1,000 bond.

| The victim and the defendant were in a relationship that recently ended. On Dec. 12th, 2021, at around 0100 hours, the victim and the defendant were at his apartment at 321 Walton Ln. Apt. M-155 in Madison, TN. The victim and her little cousin arrived at the location to pick up a house key. The defendant’s roommate allowed them inside the apartment to look for the key. The defendant came out of his room and confronted the victim about being at the location. An argument then ensued because they could not find the key. The victim saw that the defendant was guarding his bedroom door. An unknown female emerged from the room and got into an argument with the victim and her cousin. The female then left the apartment, and the victim was still inside with the defendant. The defendant grabbed her by the collar of her shirt and then jammed her into the wall. The defendant then went outside to check on the female that was leaving. While he was out there, the victim locked the door. The defendant’s roommate let the defendant back inside the apartment. The defendant approached the victim a second time and pushed her. The victim pushed him back. The defendant then grabbed her shirt collar again and slung her to the ground. The defendant stood over her and held her down at her neck with one hand. The victim couldn’t talk or breathe. The victim’s cousin told the defendant to stop, and he let the victim go. The victim got up. The victim and defendant began arguing again. The defendant then gripped onto the victim’s hands and dug his fingernails into her bands. The victim caught his right hand and the defendant started punching at her hand. The defendant’s roommate told the defendant to “stop punching her cause she is a girl”. The victim and her cousin then left the apartment together. |
