24-year-old Jessica Bruton said she was supposed to be the designated driver on NYE, however, she told police she “failed” that job after “taking too many shots”. She crashed her car just before 7 a.m., stating she had recently left Jazzy/Sensation and had driven her friends home. Bruton admitted to smoking marijuana and taking multiple shots of tequila. She said that earlier she was a 10/10 on the intoxication scale. She was charged with DUI and transported to booking.

| Mrs. Bruton was involved in a single-vehicle roll-over crash just after 0700 hrs on 01/01/2022. Mrs. Bruton stated that she had just left “Jazzy Sensations” and drove her friends home. Mrs. Bruton stated that she was the designated driver but that she “failed” due to “taking too many shots”. Mrs. Bruton was very unsteady on her feet and swerved side to side when she walked. Under Miranda Mrs. Bruton advised that she took multiple shots of tequila and had smoked marijuana. She also stated that earlier she was intoxicated and considered herself at 10 on a scale of intoxication from 1-10 with 10 being the highest level of intoxication. However, she advised that she believed that she was currently at a 3. Mrs. Bruton attempted field sobriety tests in a nearby parking lot where I detected a lack of smooth pursuit during HGN, was unable to keep her foot raised for more than a couple seconds at a time and couldn’t maintain her balance on the one-leg stand, and also could not keep her balance, walk heel to toe or conduct the turn correctly during the walk and turn. Mrs. Bruton consented to a blood draw which was completed and submitted for chemical testing. |
