Montgomery Co. Mayor says ‘Coronavirus is a strain of the flu’; downplays concerns for Clarksville

Montgomery County Tennessee Mayor Jim Durrett recently told his constituents that COVID-19 was just a strain of the flu, suggesting the “-19” designation meant this was our 19th time experiencing this, and overall downplaying the impact of the virus, noting that most deaths were in nursing homes. Montgomery County has 6 confirmed Cases of Coronavirus, as of Tuesday.

Clarksville couple indicted on 37 charges including rape, incest, and continuous sexual abuse of a child

Clarksville husband Christopher Monson was charged with 10 counts of aggravated sexual battery, 9 counts of incest, 7 counts of rape of a child under 13 years old, 3 counts of rape, 2 counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child, especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, and criminal attempt to commit rape. His wife, Christy Monson was charged with 2 counts of duty to report – abuse/ neglect/ etc., coercion of a witness, and tampering with or fabricating evidence.
