Drunk on Duty: Dickson Nurse returns from lunch with a 0.387 BAC

The Tennessee Board of Nursing has suspended the license of a Dickson, TN, Nurse, Adrienne Leigh Barber, after she returned from her lunch break with a BAC level of 0.387 – more than 4x the limit to drive in Tennessee.

Barber, who has been a registered nurse in Tennessee wince 2006 was working at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson, Tennessee, on March 1st, 2019, when she returned from her lunch break visibly upset, crying, and making statements of self-harm, according to witnesses. Management escorted Barber to the Emergency Department for immediate assistance. During her ED evaluation, a UDS (urinary drug screen) was conducted, and tested positive for alcohol at a level of 0.387.

Adrienne Barber entered a monitoring agreement in May, but as of July, the board notes she had not received a recommendation to return to work as a nurse. Her license has been suspended until this recommendation is received.
