27-year-old Baron Acklin was charged with 2 counts of felony drug offense, possession of a firearm with intent, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest after police conducted a knock and talk and he signed a consent to search form.
On February 25th, detectives conducted a knock and talk at a residence on 1st Avenue South in response to an “anonymous narcotics complaint.” Detectives made contact with Baron Acklin at the residence in question. Baron opened the door and allowed them to enter. Upon entering the residence, detectives stated they were confronted with the obvious odor of marijuana. Baron then agreed to sign the consent to search form.
During the search, detectives discovered 5 baggies of marijuana in a drawer of the nightstand along with a 9mm Ruger between the bed and nightstand. A baggie of cocaine weighing over .5 grams, marijuana baggies, and scales were located in a kitchen drawer. There was also a vial of THC next to the microwave with a small baggie of marijuana next to it. Detectives also found marijuana wrapped up in plastic in a bedroom closet. While a detective was exiting the residence, Baron attempted to run out of the front door behind him but was immediately taken into custody. Baron was then Mirandized and admitted to everything in the house.
Baron Acklin was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Felony Drug Offense, Possession of a Firearm with Intent, Unlawful Use of Drug Paraphernalia, and Resisting Arrest. His bond was set at $40,000.
