Methadone patient booked for DUI in Lebanon

47-year-old Michael Barnett was charged with driving on a revoked license and driving under the influence after being involved in an accident on Highways 109 and 70 in Lebanon.

On June 1st, Officer Brownlee was dispatched to the connection of Highways 109 and 70 in regards to a personal injury accident, per report. Upon arrival, the driver was identified as Michael Barnett. According to the affidavit, Barnett’s eyes were bloodshot and his speech appeared to be “heavily slurred.” Brownlee noted that Barnett was seemingly drowsy and inert, additionally being unable to stand or walk under his own power.

Brownlee proceeded to administer three field sobriety tests, to which Barnett showed signs of inebriation throughout. The Nashville resident claimed to be a methadone patient and that he had consumed a dose earlier in the day. Further investigation revealed that Barnett’s license was revoked as of July 1996 for driving under the influence.

Michael Barnett was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and driving on a revoked license. His bond was set at $1,000.
