28-year-old Desmond Boykin was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism, and felony possession of a firearm and 26-year-old Jothani Cain was charged with domestic assault after she struck him in the head while wielding car keys, while he threatened to shoot her if she didn’t leave the premises.
On May 16th, Officer Carver received a call regarding a domestic dispute between a couple at their home in Nashville. According to the affidavit, Desmond Boykin and partner Jothani Cain had begun a verbal altercation, resulting in Cain gathering her belongings in attempts to leave their residence. While exiting the premises, Cain allegedly struck Boykin in the head with keys in hand, due to him moving her belongings out of the home.

The punch resulted in a minor scar on the head of Boykin, causing him to re-enter their residence and return with a .38 revolver, threatening to shoot her in the leg. Using the revolver, Boykin then struck the windshield of Cain’s vehicle upon entrance. The strike caused shatter damage in two different locations.
Upon further investigation, Carver discovered that Boykin was convicted of an aggravated burglary in 2009, giving rise to the charge of being in possession of a firearm by a felon. Boykin admitted to hiding the revolver in his closet before law enforcement arrived. When recovering the weapon, the revolver was found to be loaded. Both Boykin and Cain were taken into custody for their respective charges.
Desmond Boykin was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism, and felony possession of a firearm. His bond was set at $11,000. Jothani Cain was arrested and charged for domestic assault. Her bond was set at $1,500.
