28-year-old Deonte Johnson was charged with child endangerment, felony possession of marijuana, and unlawful drug paraphernalia when he left a seven-year-old child in his car unsupervised with marijuana in the front console.
On August 3rd, close to 8:30 pm an officer parked at 315 Trinity Lane noticed a vehicle running with an unattended seven-year-old inside. The officer stood outside of the car for about four minutes until the defendant, Deonte Johnson, came up to the officer and apologized for the running car.

Johnson was informed that the area was known for vehicle theft and that there was a child inside unattended. The officer asked him for his identification and he stated that it was inside the vehicle. Permission was given to the officer’s partner by Johnson to retrieve the identification card for him. When he said that it was in the middle console Johnson told the that there was marijuana also in there. The partner found the identification card as well as 56 grams of weed, a digital scale, and a box of ziplock bags. Johnson told the officers that all of the contents found were his.
Deonte Johnson was arrested and charged with child endangerment, felony possession of marijuana, and unlawful drug paraphernalia. He was later freed on pre-trial release.
