30-year-old Ryan Sims is free on a $39,000 bond after being charged with the kidnapping of a woman at The Rusty Nail bar in Hermitage, and the assault of two witnesses who attempted to intervene as he pulled a gun on one and said “don’t roll up on me” and shoved another.
Metro Police responded to The Rusty Nail parking lot Sunday morning after a witness reported a man had a gun and was assaulting others in the parking lot. Officers arrived to find Ryan Sims had forced his girlfriend out of her vehicle and into his vehicle against her will and fled the scene. Witnesses report they had been drinking with the female victim, who was dating Ryan Sims. As they were preparing to leave, Sims appeared in the parking lot and told the victim she had to leave with him, however, she stated she wasn’t going anywhere with him, and for him to leave her alone.
One witness attempted to intervene and approached Sims to bring the victim to safety, at which time Sims reportedly brandished a silver handgun and pointed it at the witness screaming “don’t roll up on me!”. Another witness then attempted to rescue the victim, however, Sims shoved her to the ground. He was able to pull the victim from her vehicle and into his own and fled the scene with her while she was screaming to leave her alone.
Ryan Sims was located and booked into the Metro Nashville Jail, charged with assault, felony aggravated kidnapping, domestic assault, and felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He posed a $39,000 bond and was released as soon as the state-mandated 12-hour hold was concluded. He is scheduled to appear in court in July.
