Metro Police say 20-year-old Jada Wensil convinced a maintenance man to let her into the apartment of her ex-boyfriend from six months prior, at which point she took his new girlfriend’s car keys, purse, and $500 in cash. A witness/neighbor noticed she was there, but didn’t live there anymore, and attempted to block her in with his vehicle, but she was able to flee the scene. She is charged with aggravated burglary, and theft, and is free on a $3,500 bond.

COMPLAINT:
2021-0546363
ARREST WARRANT / AFFIDAVIT:
On 10/20/21 Officers were dispatched to 1811 16th Ave N in response to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival officers spoke to the victim (Brandon Calloway) and his live-in girlfriend (Jyala Hall). The defendant (Jada Wensil) was not present. The victim stated that he and the defendant dated and lived together up until about six months ago.

The victim stated that he was notified around 15:00 by his neighbor (witness, Robert Richardson) that his ex, the defendant, had entered the property with the assistance of a maintenance man. The victim stated the defendant had left by the time he got there. The victim stated when he looked through the property he learned that the defendant had taken his girlfriend’s purse, her cash ($500), and her car keys.

The victim stated he and the defendant have been separated for approximately six months and that she has not lived with him for at least three months. The witness stated he observed the defendant enter the victim’s residence with the assistance of a maintenance man who was not aware that the defendant had moved out. The witness identified the defendant as the victim’s former “old lady” and stated that he knew she had not lived at the location for at least 90 days.

The witness stated when the defendant exited the property carrying some items he confronted her, stating “you aren’t supposed to be here.” The witness stated he attempted to maneuver his vehicle to block in the defendant but she entered her vehicle and drove around him, fleeing the scene.

The victim’s girlfriend provided officers with a text message which came from a mutual friend of hers and the defendants in which the defendant admitted to possessing the items and offered to make arrangements to hand them over. Based on the statements of the witness and the victim, officers determined that the defendant did not have lawful access to the property and entered the property with intent to commit a theft.
