Keith Pope assaults neighbor/lover, pushes her out of her own home

49-year-old Keith Javon Pope had a domestic incident with his neighbor and sexual partner, Reneta Dean, at her Charles E Davis Boulevard residence on February 2nd. Dean told officers Pope had come over to retrieve items from her freezer. She stated they had both been drinking, and for unknown reasons, he started pushing her out of her home, so she grabbed onto the door, which was when he shut the door on her fingers, leaving a visible laceration. She was then transported to the hospital. Officers could not reach Pope, so a warrant was issued for his arrest. Pope was taken into custody for domestic assault on May 14th.

Nora Matthews pawns musical instruments she stole from storage unit

47-year-old Nora Elizabeth Matthews stole from Jacob Bishop’s storage unit between June 1st, 2022, and June 30th, 2022. Bishop told police that multiple musical instruments, valued around $6,000, were taken. On June 6th, 2022, Matthews pawned a cello from the burglary to Easy Pawn, and on June 16th, 2022, she sold one of the stolen guitars to Guitar Center. She provided them with her driver’s license for both transactions. Matthews was taken into custody for burglary on May 14th, 2024.

Devin Schnell assaults husband for lying about going to work

28-year-old Devin Lee Schnell had a domestic altercation with her husband, Jonathan Schnell, at her Jackson Street residence around 6 a.m. on April 15th. Mr. Schnell called the police to assist him with gathering his belongings. He told them that she did not believe him when he told her that he was going to work and grabbed him as he tried to leave, resulting in an injury to his back. Mrs. Schnell was taken into custody for domestic assault on May 12th.

Rayven Jenkins fights girlfriend for “dropping the blunt”

19-year-old Rayven Hope Jenkins had a domestic incident with her girlfriend, Liberty Hall, at their Hickory Hollow Place apartment on the afternoon of May 23rd. When officers arrived, they separated and interviewed the two. Hall told them that she asked Jenkins why she “dropped the blunt,” and she replied, “I don’t know why you dropped the blunt; that’s your bad.” Then, she asked her, “Why are you trying to be smart?” Jenkins said, “You have a smart mouth. Do you want to come outside and fight?” After Hall responded, “No,” Jenkins became agitated and approached her as she sat down, so she stood up, which was when Jenkins punched her in the face, sparking a scuffle. Hall did not wish to prosecute her for the attack. Jenkins was taken into custody for domestic assault.

Ladarius Stevenson caught with Xanax, meth, and marijuana in stolen car

27-year-old Ladarius Tyree Stevenson was observed driving a Dodge Journey, which was reported stolen by Beverly Westfall, in the Gallatin Pike North Dollar General parking lot on March 22nd, 2023. Officers then detained him. During a subsequent search, they found four small baggies that contained 232 Xanax pills in his front pocket, folded aluminum foil with .1 grams of meth, and a backpack with 1.3 grams of marijuana. He tried to flee but was quickly apprehended and placed into the patrol vehicle. Stevenson was taken into custody for felony possession of a Schedule IV drug on May 14th, 2024.

Jose Portillo sends man to hospital after Bad Bunny concert

23-year-old Jose Portillo had an altercation with Samuel Weatherford near 10th Avenue South and Broadway Avenue in the early hours of May 12th. When officers arrived, they spoke with Portillo, who said he had a heated argument with his girlfriend, Vanessa, while walking on Broadway after leaving the Bad Bunny Concert. According to Portillo, Vanessa pushed him, and he pushed her back.

Weatherford told police that he was waiting for his Uber across the street when he witnessed Portillo hit Vanessa, so he went to intervene. Weatherford said after crossing the street, he could only remember waking up to a bystander holding him. He could not maintain consciousness or his balance, so he was transported to Vanderbilt. Then, officers Mirandized Portillo and asked him about the incident, and he admitted to punching Weatherford. Police observed a cut with light bleeding on his right knuckle. Portillo was then taken into custody for aggravated assault.

Jean Cantrell scratches fiance during argument

54-year-old Jean Marie Cantrell had a domestic incident with her fiancé, Terry Love Miles, at their May Drive residence around 1 a.m. on May 10th. Miles told police that he and Cantrell had a verbal altercation, which escalated when she approached him “for unknown reasons” and scratched him on the chest, leaving a visible injury. Cantrell was deemed the primary aggressor and was taken into custody for domestic assault.

TSU student Cameron Foley crashes into police car while speeding in Dodge Challenger

21-year-old Cameron Nicholas Foley, a student at Tennessee State University, sped past another driver using a turn-only lane near Jefferson Street and 28th Avenue North late April 19th. Officers observed him accelerating excessively in his red Dodge Challenger before they heard him collide with another vehicle, later identified as a metropolitan police car, near John A Merritt Boulevard. When officers approached the crash, Foley exited his car and reentered before they instructed him to get out. Foley was then cited for the incident and booked on the citation of reckless driving on May 10th.

DUI: Lavoisier Hill found asleep behind the wheel on I-40 with pants undone

51-year-old Lavoisier Demont Hill was stopped in the right shoulder lane on I-40 West around 2 a.m. on May 11th. When officers observed this, they approached the car and noticed Hill was asleep in the driver’s seat with his pants undone, engine running, and headlights on. After they knocked on the window, he woke up, appearing confused as he struggled to roll the windows down. Officers asked if everything was fine, and he told them he was “straight.”

He reeked of alcohol, so officers had him exit the vehicle, where he fell backward into the seat and had to brace himself to get out. Then, Hill told them he was heading home from his brother’s house and did not consume any alcohol. He consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and was placed under arrest. He told officers that he left his brothers around 8 p.m. and admitted to having a drink around 3 p.m. Officers later discovered Hill had a prior DUI conviction from Alabama in August 2020. He was then transported to Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital and charged with driving under the influence-2nd offense.

Deonte Morris refuses to pick up slices of bread after littering in front of police

34-year-old Deonte Montez Morris caused a disturbance near Nashville Downtown Partnership on the afternoon of May 14th. Officers were flagged down by an unidentified male regarding Morris yelling and getting in his face. Officers observed him approaching aggressively and trying to start a fight, so they told him to leave multiple times, but he refused. Then, Morris started screaming at them before appearing as if he was leaving and returning, where he reapproached officers and threw a loaf of bread onto the ground. The bag broke open, and the bread flew all over the sidewalk. Officers told Morris to pick up the slices, but he disregarded their commands and was taken into custody for littering and disorderly conduct.
