Man charged with aggravated burglary & assault over sneakers

26-year-old Monteze Crowell is free on a $10,000 bond after police charged him with aggravated burglary and domestic assault when they say he pushed his way into a home where he left his sneakers.

Metro Nashville Police responded to the Berkshire Apartments in East Nashville at 12:15 a.m. on September 26th in response to a domestic disturbance. The victim told police her cousin, Monteze Crowell, had forced his way into her apartment to get some sneakers he had left there earlier.

According to an arrest warrant, Crowell began knocking on the door, then escalated to banging, so that he could retrieve the shoes. She opened the door and spoke to him, but would not let him inside. She says he then pushed his way into the apartment and began to assault her, striking her in the face with both of his hands. Police noted visible injuries to her face / upper lip.

Monteze Crowell, 26, was charged with domestic assault due to the familial relationship, and felony aggravated burglary. After a 12-hour hold, he was released on a $10,000 bond.
