Nashville Respiratory Therapist Cecil Larry Morrison, 64, is free on a $7,500 bond after Metro Police say he strangled his 13-year-old son during an argument that turned into an assault Tuesday night.

Metro Nashville Police responded to a domestic disturbance call on Kings Lane in North Nashville Tuesday night. Upon speaking with 64-year-old Cecil Morrison, and his 13-old son, it was learned that the two had a verbal altercation that turned physical. According to an arrest warrant for the father, Cecil Morrison, he told police his son was “in his face” and he pushed him back using two hands against the victim’s chest. The son is said to have gotten back in his face again, at which time he placed his hands around his 13-year-old son’s neck while facing him.

Police interviewed the child, who did not believe he was deprived of air during the assault, however, he had “obvious bruising” on his neck in a pattern consistent with strangulation, according to an incident report. Cecil was taken into custody, and booked into the Metro Jail, charged with felony domestic aggravated assault/strangulation. After the state-mandated 12-hour domestic violence hold, he posted a $7,500 bond and was released.
