DUI: John Williams flees from downtown police twice during traffic stop

Police say 35-year-old John Williams was driving a Lexus traveling in the wrong direction in a lane of travel on Broadway Thursday at 5:15 p.m. during CMA Fest. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and were able to speak briefly to him before he continued to drive away from the officers onto 5th Avenue. Another officer was able to stop the vehicle nearby and noticed signs of impairment including twitching and constricted pupils. During this traffic stop, Williams fled a second time and was eventually taken into custody near 6th and Broadway at 6:32 p.m.

John D. Williams was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on June 8th, charged with driving under the influence and evading arrest. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $5,000.
