Robert Sellers jailed after harassing, assaulting multiple ex-girlfriends

24-year-old Robert Sellers had a domestic altercation with his ex-girlfriend, Chassity Sanders, at her Oakwood Avenue apartment on April 20th, 2023. When officers arrived, they spoke with Sanders, who stated that Sellers had been calling her excessively since April 17th, 2023. While officers spoke with her, Sellers called 4-5 times over ten minutes. Sanders answered the first call and told Sellers to stop contacting her. During their conversation, he stated, “Before you get your ass beat.” He continued to call her several times. Then, Sanders said he was in the area, driving his silver Ford Taurus, which officers observed speeding through the parking lot. After noticing a partial tag from the Taurus, they ran a vehicle record check and discovered it belonged to Ms. Sellers. Then, Sanders showed officers her call log, which showed 35 missed calls since April 17th, 2023, from a phone number belonging to Sellers. Sanders stated she had other calls from blocked numbers, including ones he had created to contact her. Sanders told officers that she was placed in fear due to his behavior escalating, adding that she believed that he would assault her if she left the apartment. She told them she would obtain an order of protection on her own time, wished to prosecute for the occurrence, and denied the shelter they offered. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Then, on June 17th, 2023, Sellers had a domestic incident with another ex-girlfriend and mother of his child, Tyiesha Ridley, and her mother, Natasha Ridley, at her Dickerson Pike apartment. When officers arrived, Sellers had already left the area, so they spoke with Tyiesha. Tyiesha explained that she saw Sellers up the stairs at her apartment door arguing with her mom, preventing him from entering the unit. Tyiesha said she pulled Sellers away from her mother so they could talk downstairs. Once downstairs, he punched Tyiesha in the face, and a scuffle ensued as she tried to get away from him. After Natasha separated them, Sellers grabbed her collar and tried to hit her three times, but she pushed him away. Then, Tyiesha said Sellers pulled the apartment complex’s fire alarm and fled to his vehicle because police were called. Tyiesha stated that she was in fear of bodily harm when he struck her, adding that she and Sellers used to share a residence but not anymore. Tyiesha said she did not know how Sellers obtained her address because she had hidden it from him because he got Natasha evicted for causing trouble. Tyiesha had a chipped front tooth, a scratch on her left arm, and bruising to her right cheek. An additional 2 warrants were issued for his arrest. Sellers was taken into custody for two counts of domestic assault and harassment on April 25th, 2024.

DUI: Zachary Gibbs has multiple shots before causing crash with his child in the car

19-year-old Zachary Gibbs was jailed on December 29th after causing a crash on I-40. Gibbs told officers on the scene that he lost control after a box truck collided with him in a road rage incident. Several witnesses corroborated his story. Gibbs’ wife and 1-year-old daughter were in the car during the collision. Both were transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. During a search of the vehicle, officers located the cap of an alcoholic beverage on the driver’s seat. Officers also observed a partially empty bottle of Jack Daniels next to the car. Officers checked to see if the cap fit the bottle, and it did. While at the hospital, officers could smell alcohol coming from Gibbs’ breath when he admitted to having one shot. Gibbs was then asked to perform sobriety tests. After performing poorly, he stated that he had had three shots the night before. A breath sample was taken, resulting in .060% BAC. Given the fact that over two hours had passed since the accident, officers had probable cause to arrest Gibbs for driving under the influence with a child. Gibbs also later admitted to driving without a license.
