22-year-old Jacob ‘Jake’ Northcott is free on a $25,000 bond after police say he confronted multiple neighbors about someone throwing trash in his yard. When both neighbors advised him to leave their property, he retreated across the street where he brandished a handgun, chambered a round, yelled “I will kill you!”.

Metro Nashville Police responded to Hicks Road on May 16th in what was initially coded as a burglary call. Two neighbors on Hicks Road reported that a man from the apartment complex across the street had been banging on their doors. The first neighbor answered it to find Jacob ‘Jake’ Northcott yelling about someone throwing trash into his year. He advised him to leave the property.

Moments later, Northcott was heard loudly banging on the door of another neighbor, and both trash and now a white van that was parked in front of his location. This neighbor’s boyfriend advised him to leave the property. Jake Northcott then reportedly cross the street back to his residence and pulled out a handgun, at which time he loaded a round into the chamber while yelling and screaming at the neighbors “I WILL KILL YOU!”. A third neighbor witnessed this incident. They state he was wearing a white shirt at the time of the incident, but changed clothes before police arrived, and was clearly identified by all parties.

Jacob ‘Jake’ Northcott was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail, charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and after DNA testing was released on a $25,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court in July.
