Elderly woman busted with cocaine and heroin

66-year-old Sylvia Taylor was charged with 2 felony drug offenses and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia after police busted her with cocaine and heroin while they were executing a warrant on someone else.

Detectives witnessed Justin Carter enter a residence on Norton Avenue. Police knew that Justin had an outstanding warrant for a parole violation. Detectives approached the residence and made contact with Dennis Taylor, a resident of the location, who said that Justin was inside. Detectives entered the residence and found Justin exiting Sylvia Taylor’s bedroom and was taken into custody. Police saw Sylvia attempting to hide items on her bed and had a cut straw and a $20 bill in her right hand. Sylvia told police that Justin attempted to hide a bag under some towels on her bed and a folded up piece of paper under the bed.

Detectives retrieved the items and found just over an eight ball of cocaine, 3.8 grams, and the same amount of heroin in the bag on the bed. There was an additional gram of heroin in the paper on the floor. Justin was Mirandized and denied any involvement with the narcotics and said that they were Sylvia’s. Police obtained a search warrant and found 3 digital scales in the same bedroom.

Sylvia Taylor was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Felony Drug Offense and Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $42,500.
