Helen Comer jailed for new DUI eight days after prior DUI indictment

48-year-old Helen Marie Comer was observed in the cab of her white pick-up truck near Harmony at Bellevue on June 27th. Patrolling officers noticed the truck on the opposite side of the location’s entrance, approached it, and discovered Comer. Comer told them she ran out of gas and was waiting for an Uber. During their interaction, they noticed Comer reeked of alcohol and showed signs of intoxication. While officers ran her information through NCIC, they observed Comer trying to walk away. They told her to stay by their patrol car, to which she responded by attempting to flee again until she was detained and escorted back to the vehicle. After this, Comer refused to take sobriety tests and declined to provide a chemical sample, so she was taken into custody for driving under the influence and an implied consent violation. This incident occurred eight days after she bonded out on a driving under the influence indictment from 2022, which she was later indicted for on June 20th, 2024.

Steven Reid assaults woman after allegedly soliciting her for sex, wanted his money back due to “lack of services”

57-year-old Steven Reid had an altercation with an intimate partner, Breyona Bunkley, at the Atrium Way La Quinta Inn & Suites on the morning of May 24th. Reid spoke with responding officers, telling them that he met Bunkley in downtown Nashville on Broadway, where she solicited prostitution before they headed to his hotel room. He claimed while they were still in his car, he had lost the $200 he was going to pay Bunkley, who “fondled him” as he drove. Then, Reid decided to go to the gas station to retrieve another $200 from the ATM. Once they returned to the hotel, he said Bunkley “fondled him” again and started giving him oral sex. Reid said the act lasted “less than five seconds,” and she was ready to leave. Reid wanted his money returned due to a “lack of services.” Then, Bunkley told officers Reid began taking off his clothes, wearing nothing but his underwear. Bunkley thought he was going to have sex with her, but she did not want to, so she called the front desk and told them, “A sexual assault was about to happen.” Then, a fight ensued, which continued into the hallway as Reid tried to retrieve his money from Bunkley’s purse, but the cash was not there.  Afterward, Reid attempted to grab her phone as she waited for the elevator. The incident was captured on camera. Reid gave officers Bunkley’s phone and purse. Additionally, Bunkley stated she and Reid went to his hotel room to “drink” and “hang out,” denying any fondling or oral sex had happened. Officers noticed she had a swollen lip and a broken purse strap. Reid was taken into custody for assault.
