19-year-old Kanetray Westbrook is charged with the domestic assault with bodily injury of her girlfriend, Mircale Williams, and was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail Wednesday. From her hospital bed, Williams disclosed to police that she was breaking up with Kanetray when Kanetray pulled her from the passenger seat of her car and began punching her in the face repeatedly before pulling her onto the sidewalk where she smashed her head onto the pavement. Realizing how badly injured the victim was, she called the victim’s mother, telling her to call 911 because the victim was “fading in and out” and drove her to that location. Westbrook is free on a $2,500 bond.

Officers responded to Centennial Medical Center and spoke with the victim. The victim stated that she and the defendant were leaving the defendant’s house in Jo Johnston. The victim stated that she informed the defendant that she no longer wished to be in a dating relationship with her. The victim stated that the defendant then began to grab her head and bang it against the concrete sidewalk. The victim stated that she began to feel as if she was losing consciousness. It was unapparent how the victim was returned to the defendant’s car, however, the defendant began to drive the victim to her residence. The victim stated the defendant called her mother and stated that her daughter was fading in and out and that the victim’s mother needed to call an ambulance. Officers observed red swelling around the victim’s orbital socket. There were no witnesses to the incident, however, due to the victim’s injury, officers attempted to obtain warrants on the victim’s behalf. The victim was offered and refused counseling, assistance in obtaining an order of protection, prosecution, and shelter.
