T.D.OC. Inmates on Social Media from Prison (Again): Meet Lance Matlock & Brandon Watson

After years of inmates in Tennessee’s prison systems using cell phones that are smuggled into the institutions to post on social media, contact people on the outside, and even other prisoners, the state has appointed a ‘Chief Interdiction Officer’ within the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC), and appointed Lee Dotson to the post. He began his new role on April 1, 2017, and in the weeks since, he has launched a PR campaign that would appear he’s successful, but is he? We’ve found that cell phones have only gotten cheaper…

Ciera Washington: Pens Letter to City over East Nashville Confederate Flag; Doesn’t Feel Safe in HER neighborhood.

Ciera Washington, an East Nashville resident and avid twitterer, has a lot to learn about living on this side of the river. Maybe she should reach out to Jennifer Ives, who also was upset by a flag in her neighborhood last year. East Nashville has always been a place of diversity, a place where people from all walks of life live together, with general respect for each other, even if they disagree. We’re proud to have neighbors from all backgrounds, from all socioeconomic statuses, whether they be gay, straight, bisexual,…

Is Your Handyman a Felon? Meet Billy Winkle

Every day there are new people popping up in neighborhood groups on social media, offering handyman type services, you let them into your home to do the work, but do you really know who they are? Many of us ask for references, but do we know if they have a criminal history, or are violent? Do we do the most basic of background searches before hiring them for a job? Do we care if they are licensed and insured? While none of that may be as cheap as a cash…

Back Alley Diner – The photos that prompted a 75 Health Inspection Score *UPDATED*

We recently received some photos that seem to have prompted an inspection by the Health Department for Back Alley Diner, located at 217 Arcade Alley, a frequent place that we visit when on that side of the river in downtown. An inspection on 04/20/17 resulted in a critical score of 75, and a follow-up score of 96 on 04/28/17, after they had time and notice to correct the Critical Violations. The question remains of just how long conditions have been this bad at Back Alley Diner (B.A.D.) – whose motto…

Nashville Fire Dept Employees Continue to Violate the Social Media Policy – Posting Incident/Scene Photos Online

A year ago, we told you about Metro Nashville Fire Department employees that were posting things on social media, in direct violation of the department’s social media policy, which we also published at that time. Over the past year, we’ve been monitoring over 100 publicly available feeds of Nashville Fire Department employees, that are freely available for anyone to view online, and we’ve found that not only do over 95% of them identify themselves as NFD employees (Firefighters, EMS, Engineers, & Chiefs/District Chiefs, in particular) – but they continue to…

Allen Hanback, of Nashville Fire Dept, Online Bullying, Sexist Remarks, Online Threats, Insults Transgenders, Gays, & says MNPD should assault more criminals, would personally assault Protesters – All While Representing the NFD Online

After last year’s issues with Tim Lankford & others within the department, some whom were suspended without pay, and all of whom completed diversity training after we brought their online postings to the public, the Nashville Fire Department made a very clear and very public statement, in regards to employee’s social media postings – Unless they were speaking on behalf of the department, their personal social media accounts should either carry a disclaimer that opinions are their own, and not that of the MNFD, or they were simply not to…
