28-year-old David Jaye Pickett sped in his blue Dodge Charger, going around 70 mph on Clarksville Pike near Buena Vista Pike late April 13th. Officers observed this and tried initiating a traffic stop near Dr. D.B. Todd Jr. Boulevard, where he slowed down and turned on his hazards but never pulled over. Pickett then drove into oncoming traffic, nearly causing a head-on collision, and sped away. Air 1 was above and captured the incident before following him until he parked at a 22nd Avenue North residence, where officers identified him and discovered he had a canceled driver’s license. Pickett was taken into custody for reckless driving, driving on a canceled driver’s license, and evading arrest.

Robert Freeman pops a wheelie while evading police

26-year-old Robert Elgen Freeman was taken into custody for evading arrest by motor vehicle and reckless driving on February 24th. On September 12th, officers noticed a motorcycle with a blue gas tank and roll cage around the engine speed past them on Old Hickory Boulevard, where they were conducting traffic enforcement. Then, after another officer described the motorist on the traffic channel, they tried to conduct a traffic stop on him. Still, Freeman accelerated away after doing a wheelie, passing citizens who were stopped at the Old Hickory Boulevard and Second Street light. He fled the scene after turning left and going the wrong way into Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage. Officers identified Freeman via social media posts, which showed him wearing the same helmet and driving the same bike.

Treshaun White jailed for rioting after doing donuts at street racer takeover event

25-year-old Treshaun White was reportedly seen at Bell and Blue Hole on August 12th, where a street racing event was being held. A video showed Treshaun doing donuts in his vehicle while people were close by standing and watching. Treshaun’s face was recognizable in the video, and he matched the car’s registration doing the donuts. Treshaun’s license was also reported suspended at the time of the recording.

21-year-old Micah Hooker was one of two people charged this weekend as Metro police work to crack down on street racing across Nashville. Metro police reported Micah Hooker, and his passenger Bailee Nelson, sped away from a meet-up at a commercial parking lot on Corporate Drive Saturday night. Street racers reportedly practiced burnouts and other maneuvers in the Corporate Drive parking lot. A Metro helicopter crew tracked Hooker and Nelson as they drove a 2020 green Dodge Challenger, and Hooker turned his lights off in an unsuccessful effort to avoid officers. Hooker reportedly almost hit two other motorists head-on. Hooker made a brief stop, and Officer Hausman came up on the rear of the vehicle, which made Hooker turn his lights off again and flee. Officers eventually stopped Hooker and Nelson at the intersection of Hamilton Church Road and Hobson Pike. He was arrested and charged with felony reckless endangerment, felony evading arrest, driving on a suspended license, criminal trespassing, and rioting due to the dangerous vehicle maneuvers on Corporate Drive. Hooker and Nelson are the latest to be charged amid Metro police’s continuing street racer enforcement effort.

Officers eventually stopped Hooker and Nelson at the intersection of Hamilton Church Road and Hobson Pike. Nelson was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing, rioting, and gun theft after a pistol in her purse was determined to have been stolen out of Smyrna. She said she did not know it was stolen because it was her sister’s pistol. Nelson told police that her sister bought it from Kings Firearms in Columbia. Hooker and Nelson are the latest to be charged amid Metro police’s continuing street racer enforcement effort.

VIDEO: Street Racer Jacob Derryberry jailed after shining laser light at police helicopter

21-year-old Jacob Derryberry was part of a large group of street racers in a parking lot on Corporate Way in the early hours of Sunday morning. Police had a helicopter in the area documenting the cars and crowd. Derryberry reportedly shined a laser beam, which was attached to a BB gun, at the occupants of the police helicopter. Derryberry then fled Corporate Drive and drove to Thorntons on Old Hickory Blvd, where pilots were able to direct ground officers to the vehicle. Video from the helicopter shows Derryberry moving from the driver’s seat into the passenger’s seat as offices arrived. Derryberry was also in possession of marijuana and had minor passengers in the vehicle.

Street Racer Abdulrahman Taha jailed after wrecking on Nolensville Pike

19-year-old Abdulrahman Taha was driving a 2022 black Hyundai on Nolensville Road as he raced another vehicle on May 27th and passed through an intersection where a Metro Nashville Police Officer was stopped at a red light. An officer a short distance away watched as Taha approached his position and ran through another intersection while hitting a car that was properly navigating the roadway. The other party was injured in the crash, and Taha was taken into custody. His license plate was a fake tag that read: “confused.” a GoPro camera was also located attached to the back window of the car, and a Beretta 9 mm handgun was in the back seat.
