DUI: Matias Choc-Botzoc blows 0.180% BAC after fleeing police in his Toyota Corolla

32-year-old Matias Choc-Botzoc drank while swerving in his Toyota Corolla on Old Hickory Boulevard late April 24th. Officers observed this and activated their emergency equipment to initiate a traffic stop near Gallatin Pike South. However, Choc-Botzoc refused to comply and sped off onto Dupont Avenue until he got to his residence. Officers approached the driver’s side and noticed he reeked of alcohol. During their interaction, officers asked if Choc-Botzoc saw their sirens, to which he replied yes and admitted to consuming four beers. They then had him perform sobriety tests, where he showed multiple signs of impairment. After this, officers discovered that Choc-Botzoc did not have a valid driver’s license. After being read implied consent, he agreed to provide a breath sample, resulting in 0.180% BAC. Choc-Botzoc was taken into custody for driving under the influence, not having a valid driver’s license and evading arrest.

DUI: Paige Ledbetter speeds down I-65 North at over 100mph, tells police she “had a rough day”

21-year-old Paige Ledbetter was speeding down I-65 North on March 23rd. Officers observed her coming from behind them, so they followed her, where they reached over 100 miles per hour and initiated a traffic stop. When officers approached, they asked Ledbetter about her driving, and she told them that she “Had a tough day” and was “on her way home.” Officers noticed she reeked of alcohol as she spoke, so they questioned her about it. Ledbetter replied that she had “One after work” at around 5:30 p.m., adding that she “had a rough day.” Then, Ledbetter stated she had “a couple” and allowed officers to search her car, where they located a cup with a yellow liquid that smelled like alcohol. Ledbetter would not clarify if it was alcohol and said that it was “possibly a few days old.” Officers detained her and transported her to a safe location for sobriety tests. Ledbetter performed poorly and then agreed to provide a breath sample after being informed of implied consent, resulting in 0.150 BAC%. Ledbetter was taken into custody for driving under the influence and reckless driving.

Thomas Patton charged with DUI after leaving bachelor party

47-year-old Thomas Patton pulled out in front of officers on Gallatin Pike and began driving erratically on the morning of August 6. Police conducted a traffic stop, and Thomas gave them his debit card when they asked for identification. Thomas agreed to step out of the vehicle and perform sobriety tests. He showed signs of intoxication and was placed into custody. While transported to booking, he told the officers that he came from a bachelor party and originally planned to have his wife pick him up. He said that he drove because he lived close by.

James Battle breaks sister’s glasses after slapping them off her face, per report

19-year-old James Battle was jailed on March 27th for allegedly smacking his little sister in the face after she asked him to pick his clothes up. Police responded to Chesapeake circle where they spoke to Battle’s sister who is a minor. The victim said that she had asked Battle to pick up his clothes and he got upset saying that they weren’t his. Battle then stepped into her personal space and started cussing her out, so she pushed him back to create space. Battle slapped his little sister so hard in the face he broke her glasses. When police questioned battle, he told them that those clothes were not his and that his sister didn’t put his laundry in a bag as he asked. He also stated that he was close to his sister but he didn’t touch her he only pushed her away as he leaned over her.

Police jail Phoeba Harper, 67, who suffers from dementia, for felony aggravated assault

67-year-old Phoeba Harper is jailed in lieu of a $5,000 bond after reportedly pulling a pocket knife on her roommate. Officers arrived at the residence on Dickerson Pike, where a witness and roommate explained Harper had entered the victim’s room as he went to the kitchen and was taking a bracelet. She then produced a knife and stated she was going to cut him if he came near her. Officers went inside to find Harper sitting on the couch while smoking a cigarette. She began to talk to officers about a man who wasn’t there, and officers were informed she suffers from dementia. She was placed into custody and charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, as the victim stated he was in fear for his life and scared of her. Officers report he appeared “shook” by the experience.
