DUI: Lord Amedzo drinks 2 shots of whiskey before crashing his car on I-65

30-year-old Lord Amedzo had a single-vehicle accident on I-65 in the early hours of April 14th. Upon arrival, officers located Amedzo in the driver’s seat and noticed he reeked of alcohol as he stepped out of his car. Officers asked if he had anything to drink, to which he replied, “Yes, I have.” Amedzo consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and agreed to provide a breath sample. Amedzo then blew a breath sample of 0.088 BAC%. Under Miranda, he told officers that he had two shots of whiskey while at the bar. Amedzo was taken into custody for driving under the influence.

Tomalic Reid speeds down I-65 North at 79mph

28-year-old Tomalic Daequawn Reid was speeding on I-65 North on June 17th, 2023. Officers observed him going 79 mph in a 55 mph zone. Officers then conducted a traffic stop and cited Reid for the incident. He failed to pay the fine or appear in court by August 18th, 2023. So, a warrant was issued for Reid’s arrest. Reid was booked on the citation on March 25th.

DUI: Paige Ledbetter speeds down I-65 North at over 100mph, tells police she “had a rough day”

21-year-old Paige Ledbetter was speeding down I-65 North on March 23rd. Officers observed her coming from behind them, so they followed her, where they reached over 100 miles per hour and initiated a traffic stop. When officers approached, they asked Ledbetter about her driving, and she told them that she “Had a tough day” and was “on her way home.” Officers noticed she reeked of alcohol as she spoke, so they questioned her about it. Ledbetter replied that she had “One after work” at around 5:30 p.m., adding that she “had a rough day.” Then, Ledbetter stated she had “a couple” and allowed officers to search her car, where they located a cup with a yellow liquid that smelled like alcohol. Ledbetter would not clarify if it was alcohol and said that it was “possibly a few days old.” Officers detained her and transported her to a safe location for sobriety tests. Ledbetter performed poorly and then agreed to provide a breath sample after being informed of implied consent, resulting in 0.150 BAC%. Ledbetter was taken into custody for driving under the influence and reckless driving.

Tom Randall charged with driving too slow in the fast lane

23-year-old Tom Warren Randall violated the laned roadway law on I-65 S on June 3rd. The law states that the left lane of the interstate is for traveling at a higher rate of speed to pass vehicles in the right lane. Officers noticed Randall continued his travel in the left lane in his 2014 Mazda CX5, conducted a traffic stop, and cited him for the violation. Randall failed to appear in court in September and was booked on the citation on November 30th.  

Wesley Johnson says he “snorted pain pills” prior to crash on I-65 in Nashville

Police say 29-year-old Wesley Johnson had to be revived with Narcan after he crashed his vehicle on I-65S in late October. He told first responders he had two alcoholic beverages and had snorted pain pills prior to driving that night. He was transported to Vanderbilt for treatment and issued a citation for DUI 2nd offense. He was booked on that citation this week.

DUI: man traveling 20 mph on I-65 admits to using Kratom — Kendall Henderson

38-year-old Kendall Henderson was stopped on I-65 for traveling at 20 mph in a lane of travel. THP Officer Fuller spoke with Henderson, who was the driver of the vehicle, and who admitted he was using Kratom, which is illegal in Tennessee. Henderson was reportedly confused and disoriented, and admitted to doing “multiple drugs” over the past few days.

DUI: Man crashes car, hops in the passenger seat before police arrive – but a TDOT camera caught him

21-year-old Joseph McCombs drunkenly crashed his car on I-65 South Saturday morning. After the impact, a TDOT camera caught him moving from the driver’s seat and into the passenger side of the vehicle. He initially denied being the driver, however, that didn’t last long when confronted with the evidence.

Police say pedestrian removed from I-65 told them he was trying to walk to White House

54-year-old Bobby Turner was charged with traffic controlled access use by a non-motor vehicle after he removed from I-65 North twice, he told officers he was attempting to walk to White House.

Eric Nichols, 28, shot and killed a man on I-65 South Friday afternoon during a roadside scuffle stemming from a road rage incident. He says his pistol fell from his waistband during the fight, both men went for it, and eventually he shot and killed Christopher Jankowski, a 53-year-old truck driver.
