27-year-old Reverend Delvin J. Moody of Utica, NY, was jailed in Nashville on June 27th after police saw his car stopped on the side of the ramp on I-40 facing the opposite direction of traffic. When police approached Moody, they could smell alcohol coming from his breath, and he admitted to drinking and driving. They searched his vehicle and found a liquor bottle on the passenger’s side floorboard. He performed poorly on field sobriety tests and blew a .186% BAC on a breathalyzer. Moody was a Utica City Councilman from 2020-2022, and is currently a rising Black Religion Scholar and incoming Ph.D. Student at Boston University.
29-year-old Chase Alexander Pettingill faces multiple charges after police say he drove into the rear of a Metro Nashville Police car with an officer inside. Officers were conducting an unrelated traffic stop on W Trinity Lane at 2 a.m. Friday when Pettingill approached them while drifting between lanes. He ultimately failed to maintain control of his vehicle and crashed into the rear of a patrol car. Officers say Pettingill was confused, did not understand verbal commands, and smelled of alcohol. A vape pen with THC oil was also removed from his pocket. He refused all sobriety testing and requested a lawyer. He was taken into custody and transported to booking.
22-year-old Brandon Touchstone was charged with aggravated assault by strangulation after he wrapped his arms around his wife’s neck and squeezed until she couldn’t breathe. He was told by his wife their relationship was over and he told officers he just meant to “hug her very tightly”.
18-year-old Heliegh Allen was charged with DUI and implied consent after she was involved in a car accident near the intersection of Baxter Road and Sugar Lane.
According to a police report, the female subject, identified as Ashley J. Young, 31, came into a room the pair shared, began yelling at the victim about various things, then bit him on his face, punched him in his throat, and kicked him, striking his penis and testicles.
