Michael White booked after failing to appear in court for driving while using cellphone

38-year-old Michael Allen White was driving while using his phone on I-40 West early May 9th, 2023. Officers observed this, conducted a traffic stop, and then cited him for the incident. White failed to appear in court or pay the fine by June 30th, 2023. White was booked on the citation of driving while using a cellular device on March 26th, 2024.

Julie Berlin booked after using her phone driving down I-24 East

54-year-old Julie Annette Berlin used her phone while she drove down I-24 East on June 28th, 2023. Officers observed this and conducted a traffic stop. Officers cited Berlin for the violation during the stop. Berlin was booked on the citation of driving while using a cell phone on March 17th.

DUI: Jarred Ferrell caught driving on revoked license with 2 children in car

27-year-old Jarred Ferrell was jailed on March 3rd after a state trooper pulled him over on Donaldson Pike for driving without wearing a seatbelt. The trooper approached the black SUV and advised that in addition to not wearing a seatbelt, Ferrell also had two children strapped improperly in car seats in the vehicle’s back seat. Ferrell advised the trooper that he didn’t have a valid driver’s license and handed over his Tennessee state ID, which revealed his license was revoked for a DUI out of Murray County on February 7th, 2016. As the trooper placed Ferrell under arrest, they could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath and asked if he had been drinking. Ferrell admitted to drinking earlier in the morning and consented to a blood sample. A criminal report showed that Ferrell was previously arrested for driving with a revoked license on February 7th, 2019, in Giles County. Ferrell was then transported to the hospital for a blood draw before booking.

Abdirizak Suleiman booked for recklessly driving on I-40

23-year-old Abdirizak Suleiman was booked on a citation on December 15th when officers observed him recklessly driving, weaving in and out of traffic lanes, and speeding at I-40 East on May 4th. He was seen in a White 2020 Honda Civic doing 90mph in a 70 mph lane.

Emily Dueease pulled over, caught with over 50 grams of marijuana

24-year-old Emily Dueease was on I-40 East when she was pulled over for using her cell phone while driving on November 26th. Dueease had a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside her vehicle as officers approached and asked for her driver’s credentials. Officers asked her if there was any marijuana inside the car, and she reached for a light purple backpack sitting on the passenger’s side floorboard containing 59.8 grams of marijuana, a black scale, a container with pre-rolled papers, a couple of lighters, a grinder, and a manilla envelope with cash in it. Dueease was asked if she was selling the marijuana, and she responded yes. She was taken into custody for possession with the intent to distribute.

Janet Sweeney jailed for using her phone while driving on I-65

35-year-old Janet Grace Sweeney was taken into custody on November 24th for a traffic violation. On June 20, Trooper Velez observed Sweeney driving her 2009 Toyota 4Runner on I-65 North using her cell phone. A traffic stop was conducted, and she was issued a citation. Sweeney failed to appear in court in August and was ultimately booked for the hands-free violation.

India Dismukes: 105 mph in 70 mph zone… “I was late for work”

19-year-old India Dismukes was booked Thursday afternoon on a citation from April 8th when police pulled her over in her black 2012 Chrysler 300 on I-40 after they observed her speeding. Dismukes was going 105 mph in the rain in a 70 mph zone. Her excuse was that she was late for work. She failed to appear on her initial court date to self-book, causing a warrant to be issued for her arrest.

Amanda Covington charged with DUI after “drinking most of the day”

51-year-old Amanda Covington was driving her black Nissan Altima on I-40 on January 6 with a tag that expired in December of 2021, according to THP Trooper Keith Velez. As he spoke to Covington, he reportedly smelled alcohol coming from her and the vehicle. She stated she had “two small airplane bottles” of alcohol a few hours before driving. She performed poorly on subsequent field sobriety tests and eventually admitted she had been drinking “most of the day, yesterday.” She was transported to St. Thomas Midtown

Robert Harris charged with smashing pregnant girlfriend’s face into dashboard during argument

28-year-old Robert Harris was charged with domestic assault early Tuesday morning after his girlfriend disclosed to police that Robert had slammed her face into the dashboard of his vehicle during an argument and then strangled her while pushing her against the passenger seat. The victim, Ivy Shoults, who is also pregnant, refused all medical assistance and seemed only to suffer injuries to her lip, which was busted and bleeding. Officers became aware of the couple as their vehicle was parked in the grass near Donelson Pike and Murfreesboro Road and conducted a welfare check. Harrs refused to answer any questions and was taken into custody.
