DUI: Martinus Ashford passes out drunk in GMC Terrain, tells officers he just smelled like alcohol

33-year-old Martinus Ashford was found sleeping behind the wheel of his GMC Terrain in the early hours of March 21st. Officers received a call for service, and when they arrived, they found Ashford in the back of an ambulance. NFD personnel advised officers that Ashford admitted to drinking. Officers spoke with Ashford after medics released him, during which he denied having any alcoholic beverages, stating that he just smelled like alcohol. Ashford was visibly intoxicated when officers asked if he would take sobriety tests or provide a chemical sample. Ashford refused to take sobriety tests as well as providing a chemical sample. Ashford was taken into custody for driving under the influence and implied consent.

DUI: Courtney Fagerlie crashes car on Gallatin Avenue

29-year-old Courtney Sue Fagerlie was involved in a car accident near Cahal Avenue and Gallatin Avenue in the early hours of March 18th. When the officers arrived, they spoke with Fagerlie, who stated she was turning left onto Gallatin Avenue when she was hit by the other vehicle. The officers noticed she showed signs of impairment, so they asked if she would be willing to perform sobriety tests, which she refused. Then, when they went to detain her, she became resistive, refusing to put her hands behind her back. After a brief struggle, she was safely placed in the back of the patrol car, where she refused to provide a chemical sample. Fagerlie was taken into custody for driving under the influence, implied consent, and resisting arrest.

DUI: Sarah Bihogo drives the wrong way on I-65

20-year-old Sarah Bihogo drove down the wrong way toward oncoming traffic on I-65 South in the early hours of March 17th. Officers observed this and then conducted a traffic stop near Hampton Street and West Trinity Lane. When they approached Bihogo, they noticed she reeked of alcohol and asked her to step out for sobriety tests, which she consented to and performed poorly. When she exited the car before the sobriety tests, the officers noticed a large empty tequila bottle by her feet. After explaining implied consent to Bihogo, she refused repeatedly to provide a chemical sample. Then Bihogo was taken into custody for underage driving while impaired, reckless driving, and implied consent.

DUI: Jonathan Dotson found passed out in car, tells police he was “tired from working”

25-year-old Jonathan Dotson was booked on March 16th after he was found passed out behind the wheel on North Creek Boulevard. EMS had busted out the back window and removed Dotson from the vehicle to be examined. Once released, Officers then asked Dotson why he was passed out in the driver’s seat. Dotson advised that he was “tired from working.” He performed poorly on sobriety tests and didn’t know where he was or what was going on. Dotson was then placed under arrest and transported to booking.

DUI: Johnnetta Penrose caught with marijuana in car, congratulates officers for finding her “$20 bag of weed”

46-year-old Johnnetta Penrose sped in her white Buick SUV and ran through the red light, nearly colliding with a U-Haul truck on Fesslers Lane in the early hours of March 13th. Officers observed this and conducted a traffic stop. As Officers approached the driver’s side, they noticed a small bag of marijuana on top of an ashtray in the center cupholder near a Patron Bottle, which was almost empty. Officers questioned Penrose, and she admitted to drinking, adding that she had just left a friend’s house, where they celebrated and consumed the Patron. Detectives asked if Penrose would be willing to take sobriety tests, which she consented to and performed poorly on. Before Penrose took the field tests, she tried to hide the bag of marijuana while getting out of her SUV. Penrose was detained, and officers tried to explain implied consent to her, but she was unwilling to listen, interrupting them repeatedly. Officers located an open bottle of Pinot wine behind the driver’s seat during a subsequent search of her Buick. On the way to booking, she continuously congratulated officers on finding her “$20 bag of weed.” Penrose was taken into custody for driving under the influence, implied consent, an open container violation, and simple possession.

DUI: Dandre McCurry falls asleep behind wheel

46-year-old Dandre Mccury was found asleep behind the wheel of a running car at the intersection of Bell Road and Zelida Avenue on March 10th. Officers made contact and noticed a strong odor of alcohol as they approached Mccury. He attempted to drive off when they asked him to exit the vehicle, but he failed because his car was still in park. Once Mccury stepped outside, he was very unsteady on his feet and would’ve stumbled and fallen if not for assistance. He was immediately placed in the back of a police vehicle. While in the backseat, he was read implied consent but refused to provide anyone with an answer. Upon further investigation, it was found that Mccury had three prior DUI convictions originating from Maury County.

DUI: Justin Kindred defecates on himself after drinking 2 shots of Tequila

30-year-old Justin Kindred was found impaired at Briley Parkway on March 10th. When officers contacted Kindred, he told them he didn’t need medical attention. It appeared that Kindred had vomited on the side of his truck and defecated. Once officers told him to get out of his vehicle, he admitted to drinking two shots of tequila. Kindred consented to sobriety tests but was halted due to safety concerns. When officers conducted a probable cause search, they located a Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun. Kindred was read implied consent and refused to provide a sample. Kindred was taken into custody for DUI, implied consent, and possessing a weapon under the influence.

DUI: Dominic Rivera pops Adderall and drinks beer before driving with fully loaded pistol

25-year-old Dominic Rivera II failed to stop in his black 2016 Lexus at a posted stop sign near 51st Avenue and Indiana Avenue late March 8th. Officers observed this, conducted a traffic stop, and then noticed he reeked of alcohol as they approached the driver’s side to speak with him. They also saw two Coors Light’s, one empty, one a quarter-full, and a Hennessy bottle in the center console. Rivera II told them that he had taken some Adderall earlier in the day, and two hours later, he had two beers with his dinner. He consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and was informed of implied consent, which he refused. A search of his vehicle resulted in them locating a Glock Gen5 pistol with one in the chamber and a fully loaded magazine. Rivera was taken into custody for the possession of a handgun while under the influence, implied consent, and driving under the influence on March 9th.

DUI: Christopher Churchwell caught with gun after crashing car

45-year-old Christopher Churchwell had a single-vehicle accident on SR 155 in the early hours of March 9th. When officers arrived, they noticed Churchwell reeked of alcohol as he voluntarily handed them his firearm off his right hip. He consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and then denied implied consent. Churchwell was taken into custody for driving under the influence, possession of a handgun while under the influence, and implied consent.

Deven Campbell charged with DUI after four vodka & Redbull cocktails

33-year-old Deven Campbell told police he consumed four vodka and redbull cocktails before crashing his 2021 Toyota Tacoma in the early hours of Saturday morning on I-24. Responding officers noted he reeked of alcohol and was visibly intoxicated. He performed poorly on subsequent field sobriety tests and was taken into custody and charged with DUI.
