18-year-old Shanecia Mitchell stole from the Nolensville Pike Walmart on May 13th. The police report stated that Mitchell concealed merchandise inside her purse and tried exiting the establishment without paying for the $70.68 worth of items. Detectives obtained video footage from the location and later identified Mitchell as the person in question. A warrant was issued for her arrest on June 5th. Mitchell was later taken into custody for theft on July 28th.

Samuel Mustapha arrested for shoplifting; tells officers “I needed the money”
24-year-old Samuel Mustapha matched the description of the previous shoplifter from July 16th at the Murfreesboro Pike Walgreens. On July 17th, officers were near The Wash Tub Coin Laundry when they observed Mustapha at the location and detained him for the occurrence. Under Miranda, he admitted to stealing from Walgreens and the East Thompson Lane Dollar General Market, stating, “I needed the money.” Officers obtained footage from both establishments showing him exiting the store without paying for under $500 worth of items. Mustapha was later then taken into custody for theft. Mustapha was previously arrested for shoplifting at Mapco.
Jana Hume steals $394 worth of copper fittings from Lowe’s despite being banned
34-year-old Jana Hume was booked and charged with burglary on April 16th, 2024. On February 1st, 2023, Asset Protection employees observed Jana Hume enter the Lowe’s on Nolensville Pike and noticed her from prior shoplifting incidents. She grabbed a plastic bucket and put twelve bags of copper fittings into her purse and jacket. Asset Protection followed Hume as she exited the store without paying for the merchandise and stopped her in the parking lot before escorting her into the AP office. They confirmed Hume’s identity and recovered the stolen items, totaling $394.05. When officers arrived, Asset Protection provided them with a trespass waiver that Hume signed on March 4th, 2021, prohibiting her from entering the premises of any Lowe’s location. Hume was detained for the incident.
Lanikya Harris pins Michelle Render against wall with car before beating her; says she owed her money
Michelle Render says she owed money to 34-year-old Lanikya Harris, who she was supposed to meet at 6 p.m. at a neutral location. As Render was leaving her home for the meetup, she was walking toward Hart Street just south of downtown Nashville and noticed Harris’ car. The two engaged in a verbal altercation, and suddenly Harris jumps a curb in her vehicle, drives through a parking lot, and pins Render against a building. She then put the car in reverse to release the victim, placed the car in park, and exited the vehicle. She approached the victim on foot and continued the physical assault on Render. A nearby neighbor, Eric Wallace, witness the assault from his apartment and confirmed the events to police.
Trio charged after downtown Nashville brawl, including father & son from Alabama
Metro Police say a trio of folks were all fighting the streets of downtown Nashville last weekend, disrupting both traffic and citizens attempting to use the crosswalks. 18-year-old Brody Presnall, of Alabama, told officers 39-year-old David Castillo pushed him and called him names, and that’s why Brody pushed him back and punched him in the face and began to fight, despite officers giving multiple commands to stop. Brody’s father, 44-year-old Clint Presnall, also got involved when he observed his son getting pushed and engaged in the fight with his son against Castillo.
Yet another drunk tourist arrested for public intoxication in downtown Nashville — Kevin Gately
30-year-old Kevin Gately was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail for public intoxication this weekend after he was with his friend, Justin Bolla, who punched out the front window of Betty’s Boots on Broadway. As officers attempted to make contact with the pair, Gately was also extremely intoxicated and continued to be unable to care for himself in public.
