32-year-old Malcolm Smith was jailed on April 8th after passing out drunk behind the wheel at the intersection of Woodland and 10th Street in East Nashville. When officers arrived, they found Smith passed out in the driver’s seat of his pickup truck with the engine running. He was slumped over and didn’t wake up despite officers banging on the window and shining their flashlights in his eyes. Luckily his doors were unlocked, and officers were able to open them and check on him. Police had to shake him to wake him up. He woke up confused and was slow to answer basic questions. His eyes were bloodshot, and the truck smelled like alcohol. Police asked him to shut off his car and step out of the vehicle. He seemed lethargic in doing so and stumbled when exiting. Smith told police that he had consumed three to five beers earlier that day and agreed to sobriety tests which he performed poorly on. Officers found an empty container of an alcoholic beverage in the vehicle, and Smith was taken to booking.

DUI: Nicole Noe says she was “traveling, not driving,” so she can’t be charged #Jailed
51-year-old Nicole Noe crashed her Saturn SUV into a utility pole on Charlotte Ave late Sunday night but reassured responding officers that her suspended license wasn’t relevant, as she wasn’t “driving,” she was “traveling.” She repeatedly told officers, “I’m a nurse at Vanderbilt,” as she adamantly refused all medical treatment, stating she would know if she needed medical attention. She admitted to drinking alcohol earlier in the day, and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. She was taken into custody and charged with DUI. Records show that Noe received her CNA license with the state in 2003, which expired in April 2022.
DUI: Andrew Scott drives home speeding & dragging front bumper, totally oblivious
28-year-old Andrew Scott faces a DUI charge after police observed him driving just before 4 a.m. Sunday while dragging his front bumper along with him on the ground at 65 mph in a 40 mph zone on White Bridge Pike. A subsequent traffic stop revealed him to be the driver of the vehicle, and he told officers he was returning from a friend’s house and CookOut and eventually admitted to drinking both beer and liquor prior to driving. He seemed surprised there was damage to the front end of his vehicle, despite the horrendous noise it was making on the roadway before the stop, but eventually stated he might have run over a curb. He performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.
