Gayland Thompson charged in brutal strangulation of girlfriend in Antioch

28-year-old Gayland Thompson is charged with the aggravated assault/strangulation of his girlfriend, Ashleigh Dotson. She says Gayland became upset when he observed her get a ride to his apartment in a vehicle that he did not recognize. He demanded to search her phone, and she refused. Gayland then reportedly shoved her on top of a bed and sat on top of her while using his right hand to choke her until she couldn’t breathe for several seconds, demanding her phone the entire time. She eventually kicked him off the bed momentarily until he stood back up and punched her on the legs, chest, and arms, causing significant bruising and injuries. She sought treatment at the hospital; however, MNPD was unable to send any officers, causing her to return home to call to make a report, at which time a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Justin Burks charged with DUI after driving the wrong way on Interstate Drive

27-year-old Justin Burks was observed driving his vehicle the wrong way on Interstate Drive in downtown Nashville just before 1 a.m. Saturday. Officers followed him as he was unable to maintain his lane of travel and repeatedly changed lanes without any warning. During a subsequent traffic stop, officers say Burks reeked of alcohol and refused to exit the vehicle when ordered to do so. He was eventually taken into custody and charged with DUI and for the loaded firearm that was next to him in the vehicle.

Jason Bland threatens to put wife and children in body bags if they testify in court case against him

43-year-old Jason Bland, who was jailed in July for the assault of his wife and daughter, found himself behind bars again this week after Metro Nashville Police say he came into her house unannounced, took the phones of everyone in the residence so police could not be called, and stated he was going to hire a hitman to murder his wife and kids and “make sure they are all in body bags” if she goes to court to testify against him in the upcoming domestic violence case.

Floyd Thomas charged with child abuse after daughter beaten from her “neck to her ankles” with belt

A fifteen-year-old girl says her father, 57-year-old Floyd Thomas Jr., brutally beat her with a belt on September 7th. She told police she had taken a walk around her Antioch neighborhood with her sister, which she does every today, but on this day, her father felt the walk took too long. When she returned home, she says he took a belt and began to beat her with it, hitting her over and over again, and when she went to her bedroom, he followed her and continued to beat her as she screamed. She was able to escape and run to a nearby home, where police and first responders were called. Officers documented injuries “from her neck to her ankles,” including large welts to her upper back, visible welts, and redness covering her arms and legs. She also had a mark on her face. Police found the father at his home, and he claims he only spanked her on the bed, but she moved around; he explained she recently had to move to a new school due to behavioral issues. Thomas was charged with child abuse and transported to booking.

27-year-old Jaleel Love Boyce showed up on the front porch of the mother of his child, Emilia Baird. He was pacing back and forth, demanding to be let inside. Prior to his arrival, he texted her that he was coming over, and she replied ‘no’ multiple times. Despite the denial, he arrived, paced, and banged on the door while demanding to be let inside. Video footage of the incident shows him shoulder-checking the door, stating, “I will break the door down, I will get in at all costs, I will go to jail over this!” Baird states she was in fear for her safety and the safety of her child. Officers arrived and took him into custody, charging him with domestic assault/fear of bodily injury.

Julia Krogh pulls gun on her boyfriend & assaults him when she discovers he’s cheating on her

Brian Reed told Metro Nashville Police that his girlfriend, 20-year-old Julia Krogh, sent him a text message to come home and move out when she found out he was cheating on her. He arrived at the Antioch residence and found her armed with his gun. An altercation ensued, the two wrestled, and he eventually took control of the gun, but not before she punched him in the face and shattered the screen of his phone. During questioning, Krogh told police she “got violent” and admitted to punching him and throwing his phone because she knew he was recording.
