Gary Palmer III flees from stolen vehicle

18-year-old Gary Palmer III rode as a passenger in a 2020 grey Kia Forte, reported stolen by Benjamin Norton, on Buena Vista Pike near the Overlook Ridge Apartments on the afternoon of March 11th. Officers observed the Kia with a group of individuals running away from it. They caught up to Palmer and interviewed him after detaining him, during which he admitted to being in the rear passenger’s seat and knowing that the car was stolen. Detectives reviewed the security footage from the apartments, showing Palmer and four unidentified parties running from where the Forte was parked. Palmer was taken into custody for joyriding.

18-year-old Joshua Leach jailed during pursuit over possible kidnapping

18-year-old Joshua Leach was jailed on February 28th when police were dispatched for a female who had been abducted by two males in a silver Nissan. The complainant followed the vehicle throughout Nashville. Police intercepted the car and attempted a traffic stop, but it refused to pull over. The police deployed spikes at the intersection of Clarksville Pike and Ed Temple Boulevard. The vehicle was then abandoned, and after a brief foot pursuit, officers apprehended Mr. Leach, who was carrying a loaded handgun. The officers later discovered that the vehicle they were chasing had been reported stolen. Mr. Leach admitted to owning the firearm and being inside the stolen car. Leach also had an outstanding probation warrant. Leach was taken into custody on February 28th for unauthorized use of a vehicle, evading arrest, and weapon possession.

18-year-old Dorian Preston jailed after stealing Honda Civic, fleeing police

18-year-old Dorian Preston was taken into custody for theft of property, evading arrest, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and vehicle theft on February 27th. On February 26th, detectives located and followed a stolen, dark-colored Honda Civic behind Green Street, which was a dead end. Then, four young black males dressed in dark clothing exited the Civic and began to flee on foot, disregarding the officers announcing themselves. Preston was seen exiting the driver’s seat, wearing a red hoodie he removed while fleeing. Officers caught him with the help of Metro Aviation and discovered two of the involved individuals were juveniles. Dorian Preston was taken into custody on February 27th for vehicle theft, theft of property, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and evading arrest.

Joseph Tibbs charged with joyriding as passenger in stolen car

22-year-old Joseph Tibbs was the passenger in a stolen 2017 Hyundai Elantra that was stopped by officers on May 12 at the Exxon on West End Avenue. He fled from the traffic stop and was apprehended a short distance away. He was issued a state citation charging him with evading arrest and joyriding.

Charles Ramsey charged with joyriding in stolen vehicle

36-year-old Charles Ramsey was jailed on March 21st for being a passenger in a stolen vehicle on Lafayette Street. Police ran the plates on a silver Jeep Cherokee Laredo, which came back as stolen. A traffic stop was conducted, and Ramsey was in the back seat. He was taken into custody and charged with joyriding.

Two men attempt to interfere with arrest of female in stolen vehicle — Abdullahi Adan, Steven Niyirera & Zeinab Mganga

As Metro Nashville Police were taking 22-year-old Zeinab Mganga into custody for being in a stolen vehicle, she attempted to flee, and two seemingly uninvolved men, 19-year-old Abdullahi Adan and 18-year-old Steven Niyirera approached officers, attempting to set her free while attacking the officers and causing a large disturbance. Everyone is free on pre-trial release.

Two taken into custody after exiting stolen vehicle at Baker Station

30-year-old Laquita Gray and 32-year-old Tyeria Clark were charged with theft and joyriding, respectively, after they were seen exiting a stolen vehicle at Baker Station apartments.

Man gets caught routinely stealing the same car when girlfriend describes keys to police

22-year-old Joshua South was charged with joyriding, harassment, and theft of services after he was caught using his victim’s vehicle without consent with a spare set of keys. His girlfriend gave police a description of car keys that matched the vehicle in question.
